Radical Money

Money is individual and it is always systemic.

Introduction:

Did you know that my first workshop offering was created in 2016 immediately after the elections? I offered Anti-Racist Healer, which later became a 3-part series, over thirty times to hundreds of participants in small practice settings, local schools and universities, and non-profits. It is thanks to this offering that I connected with like-minded people all over the state and received the Washington State Society’s Clinical Social Work Award for my work integrating social justice into clinical work.

I hoped to never see the day, but here we are in 2025, and the political situation is mirroring to us the deep healing work that is necessary to birth a new (old) way.

I have an offering, hopefully one of many, to deal with the times. I have found that in these moments we are often more open to engage in our own concientización. We therefore willingly (with enthusiastic consent) search for direction and ways to make meaningful contributions. I am starting a new phase in my practice where I approach healing and social justice by exploring money and its relationship to individuals and to systems. This is an invitation to join in on the journey.

We humans lean as much toward cooperation and generosity as we do toward self interest under circumstances when we are not coerced by outside forces.

What is Radical Money?

This workshop will explore the themes of Recognition, Responsibility, and Reciprocity. Indigenous values that have a lot to teach us about how to be in right relationship to money and with systems.

  • We will recognize the systemic story of money and how it is incompatible with life and with the future.

  • We will touch on our responsibility to do better for ourselves and for each other.

  • We will manifest reciprocity as a collective, holding ourselves accountable by centering gratitude.

Course design is holistic and includes lecture, reflection and embodiment practice in a virtual group setting. *Note that this topic is abundant and that this workshop will be a shorter exploration of much larger themes.

This course is for anyone who would like to understand the systemic story of money, how we have internalized and embodied it, in order to re-evaluate one’s own relationship with scarcity and empire.

This course is not for those who want to uphold White Supremacist Patriarchal and Capitalist ways of relating to currency, to each other, or to the world.
